A Realy Touching Story
DINWIDDIE — Lisa Desmond lived with hepatitis C for over 30 years before she was diagnosed leaving her in a world of hurt and pain.
One afternoon Lisa heard on the news there was a child in Richmond in need of plasma. The child was suffering from leukemia and was desperately seeking a donor. Desmond without hesitation immediately stepped in to donate.
After a couple of weeks Desmond received a phone call. She eagerly answered the phone waiting to hear the good news that she was a match. Instead, the doctor told her to come in right away.
It was at that moment Lisa was told that she had been diagnosed with hepatitis C. Hepatitis C is a blood-borne virus that causes liver infections from the hepatitis C virus.
