PARIS — Changes in hepatology, new clinical practice guidelines, and new recommendations for hepatitis C therapies will mark this year’s meeting of the European Association for the Study of the Liver (EASL).
This year’s International Liver Conference 2018 runs from Wednesday April 11 to Sunday April 15, and will feature over 1,500 original scientific abstracts, with Frank Tacke, MD, EASL vice secretary-general promising that “complete tracks within all major topics of hepatology will keep you busy at all times — regardless of your interest.” New tracks to this year’s program include both comprehensive public health and basic science tracks.
Some of the news has already started, ahead of the conference. EASL announced that a revised version of the hepatitis C app, HCV advisor, will be launched tomorrow. This will coincide with the release of the EASL Recommendations on Treatment of Hepatitis C 2018.
In addition to new guidelines about treatment recommendations for hepatitis C, the conference will release major EASL clinical practice guidelines, including those addressing:
- Hepatocellular carcinoma
- Decompensated liver cirrhosis
- Alcoholic liver disease
- Hepatitis E
- Nutrition in liver disease
