Lucinda Porter of Grass Valley was one of 19 honorees at the Stars of Advocacy Fundraising Gala hosted by the California Chronic Care Coalition. The Gala highlighted the work of legislators and volunteers who have dedicated themselves to improving the lives of those living with chronic conditions through outreach and education. Porter is a registered nurse and patient devoted to education and advocacy for those affected by hepatitis C. Author of Free from Hepatitis C and Hepatitis C One Step at a Time, she has written and spoken extensively about hepatitis C. Formerly a hepatology research nurse at Stanford Medical Center, Porter is a contributing editor at HEP and HEPMag.com, and long-time contributor to the HCV Advocate.
